Dr. Ghassan Alsulaiman is the Chairman of Ghassan Alsulaiman Group, which includes about a dozen companies, two of which are market leaders in their sectors and geographies; Ghassan Alsulaiman Furniture Company, the franchisee for IKEA in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and Altalea Company (Hanco).
Dr. Ghassan is very active in the Investment and Financial sectors and chairs many companies. In addition to iMENA, he is the Chairman of Venture Capital Bank (Bahrain), Saudi Venture Capital Investment Company (Riyadh), Unaizah Investment Company (Unaizah), Aljazira Investment Company (Jeddah) and Bin Sulaiman Company (Jeddah).
Dr. Ghassan is also very active in chambers of commerce. He currently serves as the Co-Chairman of the National USA-Arab Chamber of Commerce, and had previously served as the Chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Saudi-Turkish Business Council, the Saudi-Malaysian Business Council and the SME Center. Dr. Ghassan is also the Honorary Consul for Sweden in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Ghassan has a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco.
Dr. Khaldoon Tabaza is the Founder & Managing Director of iMENA Group. In the last 20 years, Khaldoon has founded, invested in, managed and advised many successful online, technology and media companies in the MENA region. This includes the first venture-backed online business in the Arab world, Arabia.com, which he founded in 1995.
In 2005, Khaldoon founded Riyada Ventures, a venture capital firm that was acquired in 2009 by the Abraaj Group -a $7.5 billion emerging markets private equity firm. At Riyada, Khaldoon started working with Adey Salamin, iMENA’s Founder & CEO.
Khaldoon was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. He is also a Kauffman Venture Fellow and a member of the Young Presidents Organization. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University of Jordan and has completed the Young Global Leaders Leadership and Policy education program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School.
Adey Salamin is the Founder of iMENA Group & CEO of OpenSooq.com. Having started his career as an entrepreneur and a corporate executive, he has moved on to become an investment professional with a focus on TMT in recent years. Adey has enjoyed an international career having held senior management positions in the US and Jordan.
Prior to iMENA, Adey was a VP at the Abraaj Group and a member of the investment team. He founded several companies in the region and provided strategic advisory projects to companies in the space of technology commercialization, market entry, deal sourcing, and structuring in Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Libya. Prior to that he previously worked at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in New York and New Jersey.
Adey also served as a judge and mentor for the MIT Arab, OECD Mena 100, MSFT Imagine Cup, and the Wharton Arab business plan competitions.
He holds a Finance and Accounting Certificate from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Lynne Fleifel is the Head of Private Equity for the Middle East & North Africa Region at Olayan Financing Company. Prior to joining Olayan, Lynne worked as an Account Planner at Ogilvy and Mather from 1999 to 2003, where she was in charge of consumer insight analysis in the GCC region, working with several brands such as American Express, Unilever and Al Rajhi Bank.
Lynne graduated from Bentley College in Massachusetts, USA, with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Strategic Planning.
Khalifa Al Shamsi was appointed as the Chief Digital Officer of Etisalat Group in 2012. Since joining Etisalat in 1993, Khalifa has held various key positions, including Senior Vice President of Technology Strategy, Senior Vice President of Marketing (consumer), and Chief Marketing Officer for Etisalat UAE. He serves on the Boards of Etisalat Afghanistan, E-Vision, and iMENA Group.
Khalifa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, USA.
Asher Siddiqui is an Executive General Manager and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Mobily, a telecom company in Saudi Arabia affiliated with the Etisalat Group. Asher was previously a Vice President and Global Head of M&A for the Etisalat Group. He started his career as an entrepreneur and was involved in a number of dotcom startups in the United Kingdom and United States.
Asher holds a Master’s degree in Software Development from Coventry University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with honors. He received executive education in Entrepreneurship and Finance from MIT Sloan, Harvard Business School, INSEAD, Amsterdam Institute of Finance and SOAS.
Sultan Khalid Al-Turki is the Chief Operating Officer of Al Nahla Group, a family business conglomerate working in the sectors of real estate, banking, trade and telecommunications. Sultan is also a Board member of Etihad Atheeb Telecommunications Co., Saudi Arabian Refineries Company, Evolvence Capital, Jeddah Holdings for Development Co., and Smile Telecommunications Co. Ltd.
Prior to joining AlNahla, Sultan was the Acting Head of Structured Finance at NCB, Saudi Arabia’s largest bank. During his investment banking career, Sultan attained the Credit Analyst Certification of Chase Manhattan Bank, New York.
Sultan holds an MBA degree from the International Institute of Management Development in Switzerland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, with honors, from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
Nasir Al-Sharif is a Principal at Investcorp, a $10.5 billion AUM manager of alternative investment products in North America, Europe and the Middle East & North Africa. He was previously an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in Riyadh. Prior to that, he worked for Credit Suisse and Banque Saudi Fransi.
Nasir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from Bentley University.
Wael Jamjoom is the President of Rotoub Investment & Development Holding Company. He is the Chairman of RPS-MENAT, Joudcom, Moja International Company for Food Services, and Al Rou’ya Al Motatawira, the President of the Board of Directors for Okaz Electronic Publishing Company, and the General Manager of Jamjoom Umra Services.
Wael is also a member of the Board of Directors of Tasheel Business Support, Naqel Express, Al Motabei Company, SOLEX, DMS, BeDigital, Safood International Catering, Jamjoom Production and Media, Click Grafix, Fikra Printing Press, STS, Holoul, and Ejada United.
Wael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Marketing from the American Intercontinental University in Los Angeles, California.
Mazin Al-Dawood is the Chief Investment Officer & Acting CEO of Saudi Venture Capital, where he focuses on investing in the SME sector in Saudi Arabia and the Real Estate sector locally and internationally.
Prior to that, Mazin served as the Head of Investment Banking at Shuaa Capital (Saudi Arabia), where he oversaw several sell-side advisory mandates for large family offices and corporate companies in Saudi Arabia. He was also the Director of Investment Banking at Al-Arabi Capital (Subsidiary of Arab Bank), where he led advisory and acquisition transactions in the Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals, and Telecom sectors.
Mazin holds a Master’s degree in Management from Cass Business School at City University in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s degree from Portland State University in the United States.
