Jeeny to swap 50% of cars for EVs by 2028, full of electrification by 2030

Saudi ride-hailing app Jeeny plans to transition all its cars to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. At a media gathering in Riyadh, Jeeny's CEO, Hammad Ehtesham, announced: “We will swap 50 percent of cars for electric vehicles by 2028 and aim for full electrification by 2030, supporting the government’s green initiatives and investing in the necessary infrastructure.”

Jeeny’s vision aligns with Saudi Vision 2030. Ehtesham stated, “We aim to integrate various mobility options within a single app, support the Saudi government in achieving Vision 2030 objectives, and reduce Jeeny's and the transportation industry’s carbon footprint.”

Jeeny has introduced three ride-hailing services to meet diverse passenger needs: Ecolite for quick, affordable rides; Smart for reliable and convenient rides; and Elite for luxury and comfort. These services enhance accessibility and satisfaction across the Kingdom.

Ehtesham noted, “Replacing regular cars with EVs will not cost extra for riders. It will be more profitable for drivers, help reduce the carbon footprint, and keep prices unchanged for riders, based on our experience in other countries.”

Since launching in 2016, Jeeny has created over 80,000 income opportunities for Saudi nationals and continuously improved its services. The company supports Saudization goals with Saudi citizens as drivers and has evolved significantly, enhancing service offerings and the app itself.
